Ever since suburbia has been invented, our homes have looked surprisingly similar to the one next to it and the one after that. In fact, all of our homes look disturbingly similar especially if we live in a neighborhood that won’t let us paint our own home the color that we want. Sometimes the only ways to tell one house from another are by the address or the car parked out front. So it’s definitely time to get a little creative.

First I would recommend installing one of many weathervanes on the roof of your home just so you can stand out a little bit. Plus you can even read weather patterns and wind fluctuations off of it. It could even be a cool project for your kids that might even get them to spend a little time outside. Getting a lawn gnome or any kind of outdoor ornament would also add just a little flare to your home and your neighborhood as well. A lot of people make fun of these things, but many can be beautiful art pieces that will light up your lawn.

Your backyard might need a little work too. A yard gnome and a vegetable garden would do the trick there as well. The goal is to simply stand out a little bit in a world that is slowly killing the unique and embracing the same.
