I find coming up with gift ideas, really hard work. I do not like surprises and so I always like people, to let me know what they would like so that I know they get something they want. I hate that I might get them something that they do not like or will not use and it will be shoved to the back of a cupboard, thrown away or given to charity. It is such a disappointment when I get something like that. I had to buy 30th birthday gifts for someone recently who wanted a surprise and I could tell, when they were opening their presents that they didn’t like them and so I was just thinking the whole time, I wonder whether she was going to change the things or just give them away. What a waste of time and effort from the person who gave them to her – it was sad to see it really. If she had just made some suggestions as to what she wanted then she would have got some useful things. I am just about to start shopping for some 50th birthday gifts and so have called up the person and asked them what they wanted. This was great as they and some specific things that they needed and so I can get them for them
